Is Cloud the answer to everything?

Nowadays many people already say that the cloud or cloud is the answer to everything, that the cloud is the future.


Well, I agree that cloud is the future. If it is the answer to everything?


Many administrators, developers, and even system architects think only of the cloud. But there are many situations where you need to consider using the cloud.


The main thing is the legal issues.

•     Are there restrictions on putting sensitive data outside the country?
•     Are there restrictions on placing personal data outside the country?
•     Are there restrictions on putting data that identifies people outside the country?
•     ...

The main suppliers of cloud, like Azure, AWS, IBM, Google, among others, does not have datacenters in all countries. This is the main reason that companies cannot use foreign suppliers.



 But there are other issues like:

•     Is my data really protected?
•     Will the supplier be able to see my data?
•     Will the supplier use my data to steal my business?

You may be thinking that the last point makes no sense. But there are many companies that refuse to use Amazon's AWS services. Because you're afraid to provide information to a company that can reuse the same to improve their sales or to create a new sales.


For these reasons and others is that there are still companies that cannot use the cloud or cloud services from foreign suppliers and they are forced to use national services with national datacenters. There is also national suppliers but their datacenters are out of the country.


For example, pharmacists in some countries may not use One-Drive, Dropbox, and others because the datacenters of these services are not in the same country.


The problem with local vendors is that they start calling the cloud their services, for example hosting. But it only has a datacenter, if it fails, there is no availability of service.


These are some of the reasons we can not use foreign suppliers.


Is the cloud the future?
Yes

Is the cloud the answer to everything?
Each case is different. We must not ignore all its advantages and combat its disadvantages.

I still hear the following joke. "If your data is in the cloud, it's no longer yours." And that's the main reason business decision makers do not like or want cloud services.

WEB SUMMIT 2018

I was at the Web Summit 2018 and I can say that this Summit is not just for Investors and Startup's.

In this Web Summit I saw a great focus on Machine Learning, Blockchain, Crypto Coins, Gaming, Artificial Intelligence, among others.

Many was said to me that the Web Summit is only to be visited by investors, many of the exhibitors are looking for capital or a partner to finance and/or improve their product.
Well, I'm not an investor, I'm a person who loves technology independent of the brand/manufacturer, I'm not a fanatic by Apple, Microsoft, Sony, XBOX. That is, I do not enter into fan wars

The Web Summit is much more than investors.


Networking
It is the must important component. I met many companies (startup is a company) with excellent products developed. Products I can use in future projects and/or solutions.  The official application allows you to scan the QR CODE of the Summit Pass to add the contact list on the official APP.

Workshops
Has Workshops of various types. You can say that it's annoying, boring, or a waste of time to hear a person talking for 15 to 40 minutes on a stage. But many of them leave us to think that we are doing things the wrong way and we can improve.

Every day I saw different companies whit different technologies, projects, and so on.

He need Coffee.Delta, a Portuguese coffee company, sponsored the machines and cafes throughout the Web Summit and even walked among pavilions to distribute coffee.

Free Wi-Fi
In all the pavilions had free Wi-Fi, but sometimes it sucks (does not work). I did not test wireless security (DNS spoofing, Rougue-AP, ...).


Is everything at the Web Summit perfect??
Of course not.

• There are reserved areas. For example there was an investor area that was not available for all attendees. It was sponsored by Samsung. This area included new Samsung products, but you could only see / experiment if you had access to this area. For Samsung the equipment area should be public and I saw Samsung as a business monopolist and saw the brand with other eyes.
• Food, the fast-food available were not very good there. Quite a lot reduced to average and with a monetary value higher than average. Sometimes it was more than lukewarm, fried past the point among other situations. Did not like.

Fun
In this kind of conference we also have fun. For example on the last day I chose to have some fun. Seeing the Web Summit not as a consultant /entrepreneur but as a different visitor, for example admiring the quantum computer from IBM or Formula 1 car brought by Siemens.




Play with existing technology. This year there was a major focus on Artificial Intelligence. Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, SAP, and other companies had demos that one could interact with.

After all, the Web Summit is not just technology.




If they asked me if I would recommend visiting the Web Summit at least once?
The answer is an authentic one. YES!!!

Project Honolulu

The Project "Honolulu" is a unified system of administration tools requested by many system administrators, users, and other that use Windows and/or Windows Server.

It is managed through an Internet browser that allows the administration of local and remote machines including machines in the cloud whether is in Azure, AWS or others cloud services.

Communicate from Skype for business 2015 to external contacts

Skype for business is one of Office 365's most widely used products. In addition to including Skype features, it also includes extra functionality as it can record meetings / presentations.

When we want to have a meeting with a colleague, supplier, friend, ... who has an e-mail account in Office 365, digital address and communication is done, even if it does not belong to the organization.

But when the contact does not have Office 365 Skype for business informs that the contact is unknown and message / communication cannot be sent to due to company policy.

Does this mean that we can only communicate to contacts who only have Office 365?
No!!!

There are two ways to add your organization's external contacts to Skype for business:

• Skype external ID
• External e-mail address

Why two forms of identification?

All Microsoft services work through a Federation system, and all contacts must have a valid address that uses the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This protocol allows to establish communication through the IP protocol. These are the reasons for using Microsoft services domains.

For Microsoft accounts that do not use microsoft domains (hotmail.com, live.com, outlook.com, ...) in their email address, Microsoft internally replaces them for two domain types. In old accounts uses the domain skypeids.net, currently uses the msn.com domain.

Summarizing all old accounts use the format <username>@skypeids.net all new accounts use <e-mail ID> (e-mail domain)@msn.com.

Searching external accounts via Skype ID

All Skype accounts have a live ID and can be viewed at https://web.skype.com/en/

To search with the identification is used: <Identification> @ skypeids.net.

If you add this type of contact already will inform that it is offline.
But it can only communicate after receiver accepts the request for contact.

If the recipient does not receive a contact request, then the Microsoft account is not old and does not support the skypeids.net domain. So, it is necessary to search by external e-mail address.



How to search / communicate by external e-mail address

The search form is the same but instead of using the full e-mail address you must search as follows.
Instead of test@domain.com it will be test(domain.com)@msn.com.
What is the best method?

Depending on the contact type is an old account then you should use the format <username> @ skypeids.net. If that does not work, then you must use <e-mail> (email domain) @ msn.com.
